I don’t follow orders. The average newsletter is designed to inform you, usually inching you towards more capitalistic endeavors like please hire me, please look at what I’ve done and reassure me that I am worth what you think I am. Not this newsletter. I’m here to tell personal stories about the many lifetimes I’ve lived just in this one. To inspire humans to remember that we only get this one life, we only get one chance to see this beautiful thing.
I went to Thailand in November of 2017, I started solo traveling just a year before. I started in Bangkok, traveled to Sukhothai and then ended up in Chiang Mai. One of my greatest assets is I don’t carry fear. Im not afraid to be alone, to travel alone, to go through hardships alone. In Chiang Mai I met beautiful souls, felt universal love, had life changing conversations. One night I ended up at an open Jazz jam session that reminded me why hate is promoted so deeply, so ferociously. Every color, people from everywhere brought together through the love of music all curated by a black man from the states. We have no idea what we are missing by choosing to be so consumed with our limited culture, our limited perceptions so profound that they infiltrate even all the things we don’t think we want to be. Im here to tell you, you can choose different.
However, before the jam session I took a long stroll through Doi Suthep, which I thought was the name of the temple, but is actually the name of the mountain where many temples are. It is very sacred to Thai people and I experienced why. I think a culture that deeply honors sacred sites has an overall deep respect for life and the many ways in which humans have evolved over time. It’s a thank you to longevity, but also a thank you to unseen. What stood out to me most about Thailand was the softness from both the people and the environment. Yes Bangkok is a loud busy city, but everywhere else, even in it’s hustle felt clear, balanced, calm. Now I want to go back, I want to once again relive the experience as my photos are reminding me that I really do design the reality I choose to invest in. There’s so much more I want to share about Chiang Mai including zip lining through the jungle, visiting the Karen Long Neck Tribe and so much more, but someone told me recently people don’t read, and thats for sure apparent.
