I’m changing direction. After over a decade of half winging it and somewhat having direction, I’ve finally concluded that the outdoor space and social impact sphere is where I’d like to pursue the second leg of my career. The past few months I’ve been taking classes and working with various coaches which has by far elevated me in ways I cannot count. I didn’t want to believe the whole you need a niche in photography thing, but as it turns out I think it’s true, but also slightly false. Because I’ve been operating in survival mode I never took the time to narrow down what I really wanted to focus on. It was always hey I know how to shoot, then I’ll shoot it vs hey, I don’t shoot that anymore, but I know someone who does.
Fast forward to today with lots of help and deep thinking, I can officially say I am an outdoor/travel and social impact photographer. This means my future clients will pivot from consumer to both businesses and organizations with that as their mission. This feeds into both of my desires to continue my career as a visual creative and continue to expand on the love I have for the outdoors and those who add value to society.
