This past Saturday I had a small gallery show at a cool retail store in Pasadena called A Leading Role. I met Christian (works at A Leading role) at my first meeting as a new member at the Pasadena Chamber of Commerce. I showed two virtual bodies of work, one that showcased my time in Peru and the other that showcased my paid work projects. I’ve been a part of three shows so far for my duration as a photographer. I participated in a group show in September of 2023 called Bold Beauty, another group show in Palm Springs in 2018 and a solo show I did in 2017. While pulling the images for the slide show, something profound happened in that once again, I was reminded that my disconnect from what I do is in the fact that I don’t marvel over or spend enough time with the work I’ve already created. Instead of appreciating, dissecting, printing and expounding on what I’ve already done, I am on a constant hunt for the next job, location or opportunity. This is just a friendly reminder that imagery is timeless and photographs never loose their value. If I take the time to actually review and use my past work, I may take a step back from chasing the next thing and actually realize that I already have the photo, the story or the idea.
